Not too long ago, the thought of doughnuts would conjure memories of my early high school days and a certain Mr. Krusty. Everyday without fail, he’d ride his bicycle onto our grounds, laden with simple but delicious glazed doughnuts, and wait patiently at the bottom car park for the final school bell to ring. While these hold a special nostalgic place in my heart, nothing today can beat the magic that is Dhonanzi. Creatively decadent and colourful, these doughnuts are the stuff dreams are made of.
The concept is the brainchild of celebrity chef Kudakwashe Makoni, aka, TheBLACKchef, whose love for food goes all the way back to his childhood. Previous hints about future culinary projects have, luckily for us, meant the introduction of Zimbabwe’s first gourmet doughnut provider. The chef’s love for fusion cuisine comes through in his flavours, which include Salted Caramel Popcorn, Moringa Brownie, Granola Caramel Cheesecake, Toffee Pretzel and Berry Coco Pop, possibly the craziest doughnuts I’ve ever come across.
P.S Dhonanzi will be at the High Performance Equestrian Centre at Borrowdale Country Club this Saturday (12th of May) with a make your own doughnut station that can’t be missed!
